Art Auction: a response to a catastrophe?

The eruption of the Taal volcano near the populated and highland city of Tagaytay, Philippines caught everyone by surprise! In a flash, businesses closed and hundreds of families left their homes as the sky cried ashes. The 12th day of the new year proved to be grim. Friends and staff of Artletics were there to experience and witness this catastrophe unfold firsthand. While fear and anxiety arose for what the future held for the emerging organization, losing hope and losing sight of the power of art was not an option—so they got to work.

Inviting over a hundred artists to participate in an art auction, the team was able to raise funds to aid the affected families from the eruption. The exhibit was held in February 1, 2020 with the Saturday at the Art Cube Gallery, 2nd floor, Building B, Karrivin Plaza, 2316 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City where eighty-eight renowned and up-and-coming artists donated artworks for the auction and raffle. All proceeds raised were used to provide the essential needs including food and hygiene kits of evacuees in Cavite and in Batangas.
