The First-ever Sports and Wellness Event for Artists Opens on Mt. Makiling
More than 30 artist groups and individuals trooped to Mt. Makiling in Los Baños, Laguna for the first ever ARTLETICS -- a sports and wellness event that aims to build stronger ties within the local art community through sports. The three-day event involved different sports activities and health talks.
From April 17 to 19, 2009 artists engaged in various physical activities at National Arts Center. Participants temporarily left their paint brushes to play basketball and volleyball matches. There were also swimming events for those who want to get a break from making artworks. Those who love brain games participated in mind-grueling board games.
Aside from physically-demanding events, there were also lectures on health. St. Luke’s doctors spearheaded the talks on how to get fit and healthy. They informed participants on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They also conducted a free check-up.
The first Artletics was sponsored by Art Verite Gallery, Kaida Gallery, Del Monte Healthy Drinks, San Miguel Food Corp., Rain or Shine Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint, and St. Luke’s Medical Center.
